  • The Red Book format requires the “groove” pitch to fall within plus or minus 10% of the standard. This allows more than 80 minutes recording time. Note that blank recordable CD disks are “pre-grooved” at 80 minutes.

  • Andy Doe doesn’t seem to understand that most SACDs are dual-layer — a CD layer //glued// to the SACD layer. By the way, BIS released a complete set of Bach’s organ works on eight (I think) stereo-only SACD disks. When the surround program isn’t used, you more than triple the total playing time.

    I find Andy Doe’s technical expertise to be erratic.
