  • The BBC’s Classic Albums television series is fascinating. You get to peek into the making of several … classic (rock) albums in a very nerdy way. The core highlight of the series is to see and hear how the multitracks came together.

For fans that don’t know anything about how songs are tracked and then mixed, it’s like starting with Rock Band (the video game) tracks, but getting insight from the artists who recorded them.

A wildcard recommendation is “The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus,” the 1968 BBC TV special that never aired.

It has weird production, yes, circus-like. Hey, that was the theme after all.

Rumored to have been shelved because the headlining act saw their uneven performance get shown up by The Who, who just KILLED it.
